Visitors to this city are presented with a vast array of sights and activities – try your hand at scuba diving in its clear blue waters, indulge in the delicious Asian cuisine or relax after a long day of sightseeing in one of the many hot thermal springs. As the capital city, Taipei is naturally bustling with business and energy. Explore the city’s expansive mall that is home to hundreds of stylish boutiques, restaurants and bars – or simply enjoy the impressive architecture and the works of art displayed outside. If it’s art you’re after then the National Palace Museum is an absolute must. Featuring nearly 700,000 works of art and Chinese artefacts, be prepared to spend a good few hours exploring them all! Liberty Square is also a great option if you’re on the hunt for the city’s major landmarks. Here you’ll find the National Concert Hall, the Presidential Office Building and the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall – all surrounded by well-kept recreational gardens and ponds full of colourful koi. With a comprehensive metro and bus system, visitors will find all of Taipei’s famous sites and attractions right at their fingertips. Another option for getting around is the iconic Maokong Gondola, which runs between the city’s zoo and the suburb of Maokong. Aside from helping you get from A to B, the Gondola is a fantastic opportunity to do some sightseeing from above and take in some breathtaking scenery.
